Arrival in Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Spend two days exploring modern Tashkent, the country’s capital, and fly west to Khiva, an architectural gem that has many well-preserved all houses and several dozens of important architectural monuments. With its curious outer-walls and the legends that surround them, Khiva is a place for the imagination.
Explore a country that is just opening up to travellers. In four days, you will see the fires of Darvaza, enjoy a dip in the Caspian Sea, and get a very good idea of how trade was during the days of the Silk Road, in the open markets of Mary. Read more
Back to Uzbekistan
The two ancient cities of Bukhara and Samarkand merit at least six days of exploration. These important waypoints in the Silk Road are treasures of humanity. Cities that could very well be called museums, are an instant access to the past.
Spend one full day in this country and its main city Khujand. Here you will enjoy a famous museum that will tell the story of how Khujand became one of the most important cities in the region, being a beacon for culture, and a crucial corridor in the Silk Road.

Leaving Tajikistan, you explore the Ferghana Valley. This multicultural hub in Central Asia played a vital role in the Silk Road. It is the gateway to the Central Steppes, and whoever controlled it, gained control over international trade.
Spend three days exploring the natural wonders of the Kyrgyzstan. Lakes, mountains, and an ever changing landscape define this remote country. The sides of the mountains turn green and the rivers run freely. It is a perfect place to relax and gather your thoughts and your memories, before the last leg of your trip.
Step into Kazakhstan to explore the culture capital of the country: Almaty. Surrounded by mountains, yet spacious and accommodating, it is a wonderful place to end your Odyssey along the silk route.
